Overnight home care
Compassionate, professional support in Hull & East Yorkshire - to help you through the night

At Sirius, we understand that nights can be challenging for many people. Our Hull overnight caregiving service offers peace of mind, safety, and comfort for you or your loved one throughout the night. Whether you need occasional help or regular support, we are here to provide care and reassurance when it matters most.
What is overnight care?
Overnight care ensures you are never alone or vulnerable during the night. A dedicated Sirius carer stays in your home throughout the night, offering personal care, companionship, and support whenever you need it. They will help you get settled in for the evening and stay until you’re set and ready for the next day, so you wake up feeling safe and cared for.
Whatever your individual needs, your carer will be able to support and assist you so that you’re able to retain your independence and confidence at all hours.

Types of overnight care
Sleeping nights – with sleeping night care, your Sirius carer sleeps in your home throughout the night, and is on hand if you need support at any time, through use of an alarm or bell.
This type of overnight care is designed for those who, on average, only wake and need assistance up to three times a night*.
Sleeping nights are typically 10 hour shifts (usually 9pm-7am or 10pm-8am) and are charged at a set shift rate. Sleeping night carers will need a bedroom as they will be asleep during the night.
Waking nights – with waking night care, your Sirius carer will stay awake throughout the night so that they can provide care whenever you require, however often it is needed.
Waking nights are typically 10 hour shifts (usually 9pm-7am or 10pm-8am) and are charged at our standard hourly charge rate. Waking night carers will not need a bedroom as they will be awake throughout the night.
*If you wake and require assistance more than three times overnight, the full 10 hour shift will then be charged at our standard hourly charge rate, as it will be considered a waking night shift.
Who benefits from overnight care?

-
Anyone who struggles with mobility, personal care, or getting in and out of bed safely during the night.
-

-
Family carers who need respite and a full night’s rest, knowing their loved one is in safe hands.
Benefits of overnight care
Overnight care supports your independence and provides reassurance to your loved ones. With overnight care from Sirius, you have the constant reassurance that there is someone there to provide you with support and companionship when you’re at your most vulnerable.
We can support you with the following:
-
Support for a condition. All Sirius carers are trained to provide dedicated, condition-led support – whether your needs are straightforward or more complex. We’ll discuss with you exactly what support you need to ensure your safety comfort and relaxation.
-
Constant reassurance. Having an overnight carer from Sirius means you can go to bed each night safe in the knowledge that you’ve got someone on hand to help out in an emergency, or if you just need someone to talk to.
-
Friendly companionship. If you struggle to sleep, you may benefit from having someone to chat to at points in the night. Our staff could help you get back to sleep – whether that’s reading aloud, playing some calming music or bringing you a cup of something warm and comforting to drink.
-
Mobility support. Your carer can provide you with physical support throughout the night, such as helping you get in and out of bed or helping you turn over/ move position safely.
-
Personal care at all times. Our carers are all trained to provide discreet personal care – such as helping with toileting and undressing and dressing.
-
Medication & meal preparation. Your Sirius carer can also assist you with your medication if needed throughout the night, or before bed and in the morning. They can also help with preparing your supper and/or breakfast.
-
Peace of mind and respite for family. An overnight carer also provides your loved ones with peace of mind that you’re in safe hands, and also leaves them safe in the knowledge that they will be contacted if you do need them. We can also provide just a few nights of overnight care per week, to ‘fill in’ for family members who usually stay, and to allow them some respite and time for themselves.
